Review: The Final Target

The Final Target is Nora Roberts’ latest standalone novel. It’s the saga of Arden, an author, and the man that stalks and attacks her. I consider Roberts’ writing comforting, even when she’s writing really dark stuff. While this book should come with lots of trigger and content warnings (stalking, sexual assault, gun violence) you can count on it, like most of Roberts’ books, to turn out ok.

The plot moves along pretty quickly, using both Arden’s POV and that of her stalker. Arden’s family and everyone we meet who becomes her family are lovely people who I’d be happy to hang out with. Riverbend, Oregon gets a bit of the “idyllic small town” treatment, and I’m not mad about that. I’m a big fan of idyllic small towns.

All-in-all, if you’re a fan of Roberts’ this one’s going to hit all of the notes you look for in one of her standalones. If you’re not familiar, this one would be a fine place to start. Fans of romantic thrillers (that’s a thing, right?) will enjoy The Final Target.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the e-arc of The Final Target, publishing on
